Get Ready for an Irish Weekend
Why wait till St. Patrick’s Day to get in the Irish spirit, when there’s lot of Irish festivities leading up to the big green day!
Start the festivities off with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, on Saturday, March 14th, 2009. The parade starts at 12:30 pm at 4th & Jefferson (downtown), goes past the Reviewing Stand at Westlake Park, and ends at the Seattle Center. Closing ceremonies are at 2 pm.
Everyone is invited to participate in the parade. Just figure out the province that you believe your ancestor’s came from, and line up behind that banner. Not Irish? Don’t let that stop you from participating — after all, everyone’s Irish on St. Patty’s Day!
And to save you a little green, the monorail will be FREE from noon – 3 pm for travel between Westlake Park (view location) and the Seattle Center
The Seattle Center will be home to Irish Festival, March 14-17th, and you’ll find Irish music, singing, dancing, cultural displays, workshops, all sorts of activities, and booth selling Irish and Celtic products. There will be a special performances by Irish Stepdancers – including championship dancers from Ireland and as well as from here at home.
The long weekend festivities are sponsored by the Irish Heritage Club of Seattle. Check out the full schedule of family events, and get ready to start singing When Irish Eyes are Smiling!
