A Weekend in Munich with Kandinsky
When the weather is cold, you don’t want to do too much outside. So what are some activities that you can take part in this weekend? I would highly suggest stopping by the Lenbachhaus to take in an afternoon of Kandinsky. Born in Moscow, Wassily Kandinsky first entered the University of Moscow to study economics and law, but even after his professional success, he realized that he had another calling. Then, at 30 years old, he moved to Munich and studied at several art institutes. Kandinsky is best known for his abstract paintings where he experimented with shape, color and theory. One of my absolute favorite artists, I would highly suggest taking in this exhibit.
No need to be an art buff, Kandinsky’s art crosses boundaries and can be appreciated by everyone. After you spent some time feeding the artist within, you may feel the need to feed yourself in other ways. I would suggest grabbing lunch at the Cafe Lenbachhaus, which is one of my favorite ways to end an art filled day. The dining room is classic, clean and streamlined. I would suggest to come dressed nicely (i.e. no ripped jeans or tacky clothing), and enjoy the wonderful creations that the chef is whipping up for you.
