GenSan Blogger Gets Invite to Queen Elizabeth’s Baptism

queenie-invitation2 The General Santos City blogger who goes by the name “Bariles” has been invited to the city’s biggest bash this month.

Bariles received a summons for the baptismal party of Queen Elizabeth. Not this Queen Elizabeth, but Queen Elizabeth “Queenie” Pacquiao, the youngest daughter of none other than champion boxer Manny Pacquiao. Queenie was born on December 31, 2008, a few weeks after her daddy defeated Oscar de la Hoya.

The baptism will be held on February 22, 2009 at the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Church in General Santos City. The reception will be at the KCC Convention Center. A reported 1,000 guests were invited for the event.

From the look of the invitation, which Bariles graciously shares on his blog, the party will live up to Queenie’s name.

The pink invitation is decorated with a castle in the background and Queenie’s own fit-for-a-queen monogram. The invitation reads:

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
King Manny and Queen Jinkee Pacquiao
announce
the arrival of their beloved

Queen Elizabeth

“Queenie”

as she is introduced to the Christian World.

The list of godparents reads like a who’s who from the national and local government, and the lists of most prominent celebrities in the Philippines.

Among the notable notables are Vice President Noli de Castro (who went to Las Vegas for the Pacquiao-de la Hoya match), Senator Loren Legarda, Senator Manny Villar, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, Senator Francis Escudero, Senator Ramon Revilla Jr., Senator Miguel Zubiri, Senator Gringo Honasan, Luis “Chavit” Singson, several lawyers, a couple of military top brass, actor Philip Salvador, gambling lord Charlie Ang, TV anchor Korina Sanchez, dermatologist to the stars Dr. Vicky Belo, Robina Gokongwei-Pe (of Robinson Corp.), and Annabelle Rama (mom of beauty queen and celebrity Ruffa Gutierrez).

There are 48 godparents in all (I counted twice!). This is a list of high-powered godparents, if I ever saw one. Queenie, and for that matter Manny and Jinkee, will not want for good connections ever again (hello, lifetime supply of Vicky Belo services!). If Manny ever decides to run for political office, for better or worse, these names are sure to come up as his supporters.

Bariles, the GenSan blogger, is asking for suggestions on possible gifts for the baby. Queenie will certainly receive some baby bling this weekend, on top of what her parents could already afford to give her. No sense trying to keep up with that, so the gift must be thoughtful and unique. How about a set of Disney princess DVDs, in keeping with the theme? ‘Sleeping Beauty’ (I especially like the scene where the fairies give their gifts to the baby Aurora), ‘Cinderella’, and ‘Beauty and the Beast’, all wrapped up beautifully in glittering pink and gold. Something for her to enjoy when she’s a little older.

Looks like GenSan is set to party this weekend.
