Sydney Photo Friday: Mrs Macquarie’s Chair

With Valentine’s Day upon us tomorrow I thought I’d take a look at one of Sydney’s most romantic spots, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.

In 1810 New South Wales Governor Lachlan Macquarie got the convicts to carve this chair from sandstone rock for his wife Elizabeth. What a romantic gesture!

Word is that she used to sit at this spot near Sydney Harbour and watch the English ships sail in. The views are still some of Sydney’s best!
