Saint Giles Cafe
Named after the street it is on (which is in turn named after the St Giles cathedral on the Royal Mile), the Saint Giles cafe has the same grandeur as its neighbour. With stone walls and a large glass facade to the outside street, the cafe feels like a warm, airy medieval cafe. Dark furniture and loads of candles help set the scene.
The menu is full of cafe classics, such as tomato soup or goat’s cheese salad, but portions are oversized and are served with tasty sides, such as the crusty bread with salty butter. There is also a full bar menu, including wine list and cocktail choice.
Service is with a smile, always speedy, always friendly. Prices are reasonable too. The only negative factor might be that you’ll have to wait – it can be busy with both locals and the passing tourist.
