LCCT Labu: Ada udang di sebalik mee

Ada udang di sebalik mee…. a cunning, newly concocted idiomatic expression (by some unknown, un-athorized Malay language self-claimed-expert obviously… aka perosak peri-bahasa) based on the original phrase… ada udang di sebalik batu… simply meant there is something not right, and/or fishy (often ulterior motives) behind something.
By now, a lot had been said about this latest joint venture between AirAsia and Sime Darby to a build another LCCT terminal (in Labu, known as KLIA@East) no one really needs. The airport is surely more for Sime Darby than for Malaysians.
It looks like the government is compelled to give something to Sime Darby and this appears like it must be done ASAP…. an I-owe-you or a parting gift from some one before March 2009 deadline perhaps?
It is interesting how the government, AirAsia and Sime Darby had initialy positioned this project as merely a low cost terminal when it is in fact a full fledge airport to begin with. The plan also seemed to be hatched in a rush after IJN’s failed bid to take over IJN,.
I am always amazed as to how the BN government keep treating Malaysian citizens as a bunch of stupid fools that can stomach anything pushed down their throats. And also amazed at how, the cabinet ministers (yes the whole bunch of BN cabinet ministers) that will approve anything… and I really mean anything at all, very much like I-scratch-your-back and you-scratch-my-back kind of relationship… if you know what I meant.
Good thing though, the people are NOT stupid anymore and they are NOT afraid to speak their minds. That is sure trouble for this troubled government that is now trying hard to win the people back.
On a different note, I, once again, fully agree with Mahathir on his two cents about The Fourth Airport. If only Mahathir behaved this way looong time ago, Malaysians would have not ditched him. But then, this is Mahathir we are talking about. You can agree with what he writes, but like the saying goes, there is always ‘udang di sebalik mee’ …. even (or should I say… especially?) for Mahathir.
On a lighter note, maybe Sime Darby should seriously consider this option here hehehe.

“..the people are NOT stupid anymore…” Absolutely sure of this?
They are now having fishing retreat in KT and look at their catches!
CJCM: I should re-phrase ehhh? How about…. … the people are becoming less stupid?” hahaha What ever it is, surely more people are cleverer than ever.
To facilitate AirAsia’s move from Subang Airport to KLIA in 2002, AirAsia was given a waiver of all aeronautical charges (excluding Passenger Service Charge (PSC)) paid by AirAsia for their flights over and above what the airline was paying at Subang Airport. This waiver was for a period of five years (2002-2007) and was applicable not only at KLIA but also at all other airports in Malaysia that AirAsia may operate to. This waiver was for both domestic and international flights, which includes landing, parking, aerobridge and check-in counter charges. AirAsia also enjoyed special rental rates for office space at all airports.
