San Diego Airport Dining
With the holidays right around the corner, many will be spending time "waiting-it-out" in terminals. While is a fairly small airport, it’s packed with various dining options, such as food courts.
Terminal 1: Below, you will find some of my favorites, along with a brief description on what you can expect at each location:
Chili’s Too (Food Court): A new restaurant added in 2008, Chili’s Too has a variation of great hamburgers, fries, soups, salads and some Mexican fare.
Boudin Bakery (Food Court): Known for their fresh bread, Boudin Bakery serves up some excellent sandwiches. The Chicken Pesto, Turkey Avocado, California Vegetarian and Roast Beef sandwiches are great. For a nice pairing, try some a cup of clam chowder or onion soup. Its Chinese Chicken Salad or Caesar Salad are also great.
NFL Charger Sport Bar (United Rotunda Gates 11-19): At the laid back Charger Sports Bar, you can watch a game, enjoy a cold beer and order up some tasty appetizers like buffalo wings. Hamburgers and hot dogs drizzling in condiments can also be served up.
Karl Strauss Brewing Company (Past Gate 1 Security): Founded in in the late 80s, it’s no wonder Karl Strauss Brewing Company has a couple spots at the airport. Known for their excellent beers and great food, this is a nice place to hang out for a meal. Before you sink your teeth into a hearty beef burger, calamari strips or Garlic Parmesean Fries, do grab a cold mug of Summer Light or Wheat Hefeweizen.
Yan Can Fresh Asian Cooking (Terminal 1 East): Order your favorites at this buffet-style eatery, such as: Chicken Satays, Chicken Lettuce Wrap, Spring Rolls, Potstickers, Chinese Chicken Salad or Wonton Soup.
Terminal 2:
California Pizza Kitchen (Gate 35): This place serves up great pasta dishes and unique pizza selections. Their salad portions are very generous.
Karl Strauss Brewing Company (Main Concourse Area): The Karl Strauss Brewing Company at Terminal 2 serves up the same great beer and food like Terminal 1.
Happy Travels!
