Be in the Know

As you might have guessed after reading my post about Edinburgh’s Festival Calendar, the Scottish capital is a busy place.  Live music, theatre, and art exhibitions are only a few examples of the rotating array of talent coming through Edinburgh in any given month.  To best plan for your visit, there are a couple of web resources that will give you the best insight on what’s happening.

The Skinny:  Scotland’s ‘cutting edge culture magazine’, published monthly, is king when it comes to the underground scene.  Independent movies, local music heros, pick up a copy or check out the website.

The List: The list is, just that, the biggest and best list of everything and anything worth knowing.  Festivals, books, TV, pubs, restaurants, theatre, film, children-friendly events — if it isn’t here it probably isn’t worth going.

The Oracle: If you find The List a bit overwhelming, the Oracle might be a better fit for you.  It highlights some of the best recurring events held throughout the year as well as detailed information about more unique and interesting entertainment.   Strangely the Oracle covers supermarkets as well, should you feel a grocery shop craving during your visit!
